Why We Built This
A trade's story doesn't end on deadline day. A pick becomes a player, a prospect becomes a captain, a cap dump frees up the money for the next big signing. We built NHLTrades to follow the whole story: every trade connected to the players and picks in it, those picks connected to who was drafted, and every name connected to the rest of their career. Look up one deal and you can follow the thread as far as it goes.
What You'll Find
- Trades. The NHL's trade history, with every player, pick, condition and future consideration in each deal, and where each piece ended up.
- Trade grades. Each side of a trade is graded on what it gave up and what it got back, using player value, contracts and draft pick value.

What We Value
Getting the data right and keeping the experience clean. We'd rather show the three things that matter about a trade than the thirty that don't. The grades and analytics are model estimates, our best read on the data, and we keep refining them as we learn. When a number is a judgment call, we try to make it clear what went into it, so you can make up your own mind. Whether you've followed the league for twenty years or just want to know what your team gave up at the deadline, it should make sense at a glance.
